Best moisturisers underneath makeup
Great makeup starts with a great base.
I’m sharing some insider info… a good moisturiser and well hydrated skin is the secret sauce to amazing makeup. Here are some of my top recommendations, and honestly they are not limited to the skin type that I’ve listed. I’ve used these all on different skin types and they all have worked amazingly.
Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base - a buttery and rich moisturiser that leaves skin feeling amazing. I tend to use this for normal to dry skin, and this works well on mature skin also. I avoid using this on sensitive skin due to the grapefruit oil. Best for: Normal, Dry, Mature
Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré - smells divine, works nicely into the skin. I use this with my hands and really massage it into the face. Best for: Normal, Oily, Mature
MAC Hyper Real Skin Canvas Balm - I’m a big fan of this one personally. It smells so nice, and prepares the skin perfectly for makeup. Best for: All skin types
Clinique Moisture Surge 100H - A gel-like cream that sinks into the skin nicely. It has a cooling feeling doesn’t leave any greasy residue. Best for: all skin types
Weleda Skinfood Light - both Skinfood Moisturisers are wonderful. However I prefer the light version, this is a thinner product and absorbs into the skin easier than the regular version. However the regular version is nice as a mask or really worked into the skin for those on the dryer side. Best for: Normal to Combination
Mecca Max Thirst Impression - This is my MOST repurchased moisturiser. This product does me no wrong - except that I use it so quickly! This paired with the Watercooler serum is a match made in heaven. I use this for my clients with sensitive skin also! Best for: All types, Sensitive skin
Honourable mentions: I’m From Vitamin Tree Water Gel. This cool gel moisturiser is great to add fast absorbing hydration (you can get this from @hikoco.official ) Best for: normal to oily/combo, sensitive skin. Same goes for the Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturiser.
